It Could be a While Before OKC Fans get to see Jon Singleton

According to this article by Brian McTaggart, it is likely that Jon Singleton's first games after he returns from his suspension will be played in Modern Woodmen Ballpark in Davenport, Iowa.  Davenport is the home of the Astros' newest affiliate, the Low A Quad Cities River Bandits.  The estimated date for Singleton's return is May 28.  This article indicates that Singleton will probably proceed to Oklahoma City after his brief stint with Quad Cities.

Quad Cities and Oklahoma City are the only affiliates at home on May 28. Quad Cities is scheduled to host Kane County from May 28-30 before going on the road.  The RedHawks are hosting Omaha from May 28-31.  After that series, the Astros AAA affiliate goes on an eight-game road trip to Albuquerque and Omaha.  If Singleton doesn't make it to Oklahoma by the end of May, the earliest RedHawk fans will get to see him in person is June 10, when the club is scheduled to host Iowa.

The Hooks are on the road on May 28.  They won't return to Whataburger Field until June 4.

Hauschild Hurls a no-hitter, at least during his Part of the Start

Quad Cities tandem starter Mike Hauschild completed his outing today without allowing a hit to Beloit.  Hauschild only walked two batters and faced two over the minimum in five innings.  The first Beloit batter to face Colton Cain, Hauschild's tandem partner, in the sixth inning singled to end the River Bandits' bid.  Hauschild struck out five and lowered his season ERA to 3.32.

Oakland-Houston Farm System Showdown Update

Oakland and Houston's farm clubs will wrap up their weekend showdown today as Quad Cities hosts Beloit and Corpus Christi plays in Midland.  Here's a look at how the teams fared head to head over the weekend.

AAA
Oklahoma City split its four game series with Sacramento.

AA
The Hooks won two of their first three games in Midland.  Corpus currently leads the season series with Midland 8 games to three.

Low A
The River Bandits lost the first three games of their series against Beloit.

The showdown takes a step up this weekend when the Athletics visit Minute Maid Park for a three-game series.  To this point, Oakland has won all six games it has played against the Astros.

Who Will the Astros Pick 1.1?

The purpose of this post is two-fold.  With the draft just around the corner, it gives the Farmstros Village a chance to chime in on who they think the club will pick on June 6. In addition, Blogger polls have been unreliable recently, so I am experimenting with this poll to help me decide if I will use it for future polls on Farmstros.

I plan to keep this poll open through Wednesday, May 22.
