Lumsden Acquired from Royals
The Astros acquired left-hander Tyler Lumsden from the Royals for a player to be named later and cash. Lumsden, 25, was added to the 40-man roster. He spent 2008 with AAA Omaha, where he had a 7.21 ERA in 28 games, including 18 starts. He is pitching for Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rico this winter. Lumsden was drafted by the White Sox in 2004. After being traded to the Royals during the 2006 season, he was rated that organization's #5 prospect heading into the 2007 season. However, he struggled in Omaha the last two seasons.
