Three Added to the 40-man roster

The Astros added three players to the 40-man roster, protecting them from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. Drew Sutton, IF, Tommy Manzella, SS, and Brian Bogusevic were added bringing the 40-man roster to 34 players.
The only player I thought might be added who wasn't was LHP Chris Blazek, who spent the season at Corpus Christi.

I'm wondering if Blazek not being moved to the 40-man reflects on the severity of his "elbow soreness" that he had when he left the AFL.

I'd forgotten about that. He did only pitch two innings in Arizona. at the same time, of the four, he was the least likely to be added to the 40-man roster based on his 2008 AA numbers. At the same time he is a lefty, so a strong Arizona showing might have given him the nudge.
