Castro, Van Ostrand seeking medals this Weekend

The Baseball World Cup draws to a close this weekend in Italy and two Farmstros are still hopeful of receiving a medal.
Catcher Jason Castro and his Team USA teammates will be playing in Sunday's Gold Medal contest against Cuba. The game is scheduled for 8 a.m. (Central Time) in Nettuno, Italy. After a slow start in the tournament, Castro has been relegated to back-up catcher duty for the Stars and Stripes. In seven games, Castro is three for 23 with one run and one RBI.

Castro's Corpus Christi teammate Jimmy Van Ostrand has made a much larger contribution to Canada's advancement to Saturday's Bronze medal contest against Puerto Rico. The game will begin at 1 p.m. in Grosseto, Italy. Van Ostrand has played in 12 games going 14 for 44. He also has three doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and nine runs scored.
