This week marks the midway point of the season. Several teams finished the first half of their season and three short season affiliates began play.
Round Rock (33-41, over-all) and Corpus Christi, 36-34, end of 1st half; 0-1 in 2nd half) finished the week 4-3. Rain limited the DSL Astros (6-13, over-all) to two games on the week. They lost both. Lancaster went 1-2 to end the 1st Half 23-47. Lexington finished their 1st half 35-35 after going 1-3. In the first week of short season games: Tri-City, 2-4; Greeneville, 1-1; GCL Astros, 1-1.
The Farmstros Five for the week of June 17-23, 2010
The Top Performer:
Doug Arguello, 25, LHP, Corpus Christi. Arguello did not allow an earned run in two starts. He pitched 12 innings and struck out eight, allowing nine hits and lowering his ERA to 2.39.
The Other Four:
Drew Locke, 27, OF, Round Rock. Locke was 12 for 28 with three doubles, one triple, two home runs (in one game), and seven RBI.
German Duran, 25, IF, Corpus Christi. Duran went 12 for 23 with two doubles, one home run and five RBI. He also scored five runs.
Lee Cruz, 27, OF, Lancaster/Round Rock. Cruz split the week between Lancaster and Round Rock. He had a double in one at bat for the Express. Over-all on the week, he was 8 for 13 with two doubles a grand slam and six RBI.
David Martinez, 22, RHP, Tri-City. Martinez made two scoreless relief appearances for the Valley Cats. He allowed two hits and struck out six in six innings.
