Lyles in the Futures Game

Jordan Lyles will be representing the Astros in this year's Futures Game. He will play for the USA team in the contest July 11 at Anaheim, which opens All-Star weekend. Jason Castro and Chia-jen Lo took part in last year's contest.

Speaking of All-Star performers, several Farmstros participated in all-star games tonight.

Jay Austin struck out in his only at bat in the California/Carolina All-Star Game. He was Lancaster's only representative at the game.

Four Lexington Legends played in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.

Jose Altuve was 0 for 3 with 1 RBI.
Kody Hinze was 1 for 5 with two strikeouts.
J.D. Martinez was 1 for 4 with three strikeouts.
Kirk Clark pitched a scoreless inning allowing no runs.

NOTE: Robert Donovan, pitched Sunday for Lexington and did not appear in tonight's game.

Donovan was not on the allstar roster...

near capacity crowd with Kody Hinze blasting 5 HR in the first round and losing 2-1 in a 5 out showdown to crown the Southern HR champ to eventual overall winner Chris Dominguez (5-4 over Miguel Velasquez in the finals).

Altuve nearly had a double down the left field line which Stephen Souza made a diving stab catch for a fantastic out. His RBI came on a fielder's choice out on another well-hit ball.

Clark was dominant and kept batters fooled between mid-90's heat and well placed off-speed pitches.

J.D. was also hit by a pitch, lucikly with no damage. Both J.D. and Kody played the entire game.

I'm not sure what I was thinking about Donovan, but looking back there WERE just four. Maybe, I was thinking Donovan deserves to be there after his first half. thanks for the report, Larry.
