It may be about time for Houston catching prospect Chris Wallace to meet the Astros Social Media Director Alyson Footer. He is a social media phenomena after all. Last weekend, I posted a poll asking Farmstros readers who they would like to see at this weekend's Minor League MVP event. I included Chris Wallace in the poll who was drafted this summer in part because of his performance at Greeneville and Tri-City, but also because he is a product of the University of Houston and I thought the local tie-in might create some interest.
On Monday morning, I called out Cougar fans via Twitter to vote for Wallace, and did they ever. By the time the poll wrapped up Wednesday night, Wallace had run away (to Florida?) from all the other candidates. A total of 456 people cast votes and Wallace was selected 405 times. Unfortunately, Wallace is in Florida for the club's Fall Instructional League, so he won't be able to make it to the event Saturday. However, the next two vote getters in the poll, J.D. Martinez (27) and Jordan Lyles (26) are scheduled to be at Minute Maid Park Saturday.
Remember if you buy tickets to the Minor League MVP event and tell Richard Tapia in the Astros ticket office (713-259-8303) that Farmstros sent you, I will give you a home made customized Farmstros magnet at Minute Maid Park on Saturday.
