J.D. Martinez Runs Away with Farmstros Player of the Year Award

Outfielder J.D. Martinez received 23 of 36 votes from readers of Farmstros to win the Farmstros Player of the Year Award. Martinez, who was the Farmstros Player of the Month twice this season, started the year in Lexington. In 88 games for Lexington, he won the South Atlantic League batting title with a .362 average. He also had 31 doubles, 15 home runs and 64 RBI. Although being promoted to Corpus Christi after 88 games, he was still named the South Atlantic League MVP for his perfrormance as a Legend. Martinez wasn't quite as dominant in 50 games for the Hooks, but he batted .302 with nine doubles and 25 RBI as he continued his rapid ascent through the Astros' organization.

Outfielder J.B. Shuck who split the season between Corpus Christi was the runner-up in the voting with seven votes.

Voting for the Farmstros Pitcher of the Year will begin Friday.
