The winner of Sunday's Astros/Cubs season finale will take fourth place in the NL Central race. However, the loser will get a prize too: the #9 pick in next summer's draft. Houston and Chicago enter Sunday's contest tied for the eighth-worst record in the Majors at 75-86. Normally, the eighth-worst record would merit a #8 pick, but next June, Arizona will get a compensation pick at #7 for their failure to sign their #6 2010 selection, Barret Loux. Therefore, the eighth-worst record will equal #9 pick. Adding intrigue to the final game, San Diego will receive the #10 pick as compensation for their failure to sign their #9 selection in the 2010 first round. This means that today's winner, will end the season with the ninth-worst record, and the #11 pick in next summer's draft.
#6- #11 picks in 2011 Draft (based on record entering Sunday's play);
#6- Washington
#7- Arizona*
#8- Cleveland
#9- Cubs/Astros loser
#10- San Diego*
#11- Cubs/Astros winner
