The Astros Gulf Coast League entry begins their 2011 season Monday. The club is made up of recent draft picks and players from Latin America who are making their stateside debuts as professionals. The team's roster can be found here.
Monday's contest will take place at 11 a.m. (Minute Maid Park time) in Jupiter, Florida the home of the GCL Marlins. Game results and statistics for the GCL Astros should be accessible at the team's site during the 2011 season.
Three GCL Astros of Note in 2011:
Francisco Baso, RHP. Baso was a Dominincan Summer League All-star in 2010 for the DSL Astros.
Jean Batista, SS. Batista was the second most-hyped international signing for the Astros in 2010 behind Greeneville's Ariel Ovando.
Adrian Houser, RHP. Houser, a right-hander from Oklahoma, was the Astros 2nd pick in this month's draft.
