After a spot start for the AAA Oklahoma City RedHawks, left-hander Xavier Cedeno is back with Corpus Christi, and he if filling a new role as a member of the Hooks' bullpen. Prior to his brief call-up, Cedeno had made 19 starts for Corpus Christi. He led the Texas League with 108 strikeouts in 109 2/3 innings.
Greg Rajan of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times tweeted that the move to the bullpen is being made out of concern for Cedeno's arm. Prior to this season, Cedeno had not been a regular starting pitcher since the 2008 season (he made three starts for Carolina in 2010). In the last two seasons, he had compiled a total of under 100 innings pitched. (2009- 70 2/3; 2010- 22)
