Lancaster first baseman Kody Hinze will be making his final appearance with the JetHawks tonight. Following tonight's game at Clear Channel Stadium, Hinze will be traveling to Corpus Christi, where he will join the Astros AA affiliate for a series that starts Thursday.
Hinze's promotion is definitely deserved, but the details of the move have been unique. If memory serves, most promotions of Astros prospects have been announced after the player has moved, or at least when he is on the way to the airport. However, tonight will be Hinze's second game with the JetHawks since the promotion was announced. The JetHawks have even used Hinze's departure in an attempt to promote ticket sales for tonight's game in California.
The unique circumstances of Hinze's move to Corpus Christi is likely related to the Hooks' schedule more than anything else. The Hooks finish a series in Springdale, Arkansas tonight (Northwest Arkansas Naturals) before making the trip back to Whataburger Field to meet the Tulsa Drillers and Alyson Footer on Thursday night.
