Hooks' Leon Has his Roar Back

In the past four weeks, right-handed reliever Arcenio Leon has returned to the form he showed during the first month of the season for the Corpus Christi Hooks. Since June 17, Leon, 24, has made 11 appearances out of the Hooks bullpen, allowing only one earned run and striking out 21 while recording two saves in 15 innings. During this stretch, Leon(a member of the Astros' 40-man roster) has lowered his ERA to 3.07 for the season entering this evening's game.

Leon, who finished 2010 with the Hooks, jumped out of the blocks quickly in April. He made seven AA appearances in the season's first month, pitching 11 scoreless innings and striking out 11. However, May 1 through June 16 was not Leon's time. He made 12 appearances during that time, seeing his ERA balloon to 4.50 before this latest effective streak began.
