The last time Oklahoma City pitcher Lucas Harrell was on a major league mound, Jose Altuve was still in Corpus Christi, the Astros were 27-47, and we had no idea if there would be a 2011 NFL season. Harrell, a right-handed starter last took the mound for the White Sox on June 20.
The Astros picked up the 26-year old shortly after Chicago waived him, and he has quickly proceeded to make his case for a speedy return to the big leagues. In three starts, Harrell has pitched 18 innings and posted a 1.00 ERA. He has allowed 13 hits and walked nine while striking out 16 batters.
Harrell is currently on the Astros' 40-man roster. This will make it easier logistically to promote him in the event that a trade opens up a spot in the big league starting rotation.
