Springer has discussions with the Long Island Ducks

Big thanks to native_astro who just tweeted this link from MLB Trade Rumors. It indicates that George Springer who the Astros drafted 11th over-all in last month's draft may be close to signing with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. The Astros have until August 15 to sign their draft picks. If they fail to sign Springer and/or 3rd Round Pick Jack Armstrong, they would receive compensation in the form of draft picks in 2012.

More information on this report. The original tweet came from Tim Dierkes who is based in Roselle, Illinois. His Twitter feed (timdierkes) indicates he was on Houston's Sports Radio 610 Monday morning. He tweeted at about 1 p.m. (Minute Maid Park time) that the rumor that "Springer is looking into signing with the Long Island Ducks is legitimate." Dierkes posted this on MLB Trade Rumors, which provides more information on the story.
