Two Big League lefties get game started, Guy from Lamar Saves it for GCL Astros

Two left-handers with major league experience got the GCL Astros game started on Friday; however, a 23-year old from Lamar University finished it to get his fourth save. Ryan Rowland-Smith (three innings) and Fernando Abad (one inning) made rehab appearances in Florida to start the game against the GCL Nationals.

Long after Rowland-Smith and Abad had left the scene, Blake Ford pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to complete the victory for the Astros' Gulf Coast League entry. Ford, who Houston drafted in the 44th Round of last month's draft, has appeared in 11 games and posted a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings. He has saved four of the GCL Astros' 10 wins this season.
