Either Way, Springer could be a Big Part of Houston Baseball History

Even if he doesn't sign with the Astros by today's deadline, George Springer could still play a part in Houston's baseball history.

Springer has had discussions with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. This is his back-up plan if a deal cannot be reached. If this back-up plan is put into action, I assume Springer would also be a Duck in 2012 until the draft, in an attempt to maintain/build up his resume. The 2012 Atlantic League schedule will be announced in Septemeber/October, but it is possible that the Ducks with Georger Springer could be playing against the Sugarland Skeeters at Star Tex Power Field April 26, 2012 (Tentative home opener).

I still get the feeling that Springer will sign before tonight's deadline. However, how ironic would it be if he ended up being the first batter ever in a Sugarland Skeeters' game?
