Labor Day and the end of the minor league season is three weeks away. However, the Astros' Dominican affiliate begins the ending this week, as their season wraps up Saturday. The DSL Astros have nine games remaining in the next six days with three double-headers necessitated by rainouts.
Heading into the final week, the 23-37 DSL squad has been a power explosion compared to previous DSL Astros teams. In 60 games, the 2011 DSL Astros have 27 home runs (Teoscar Hernandez leads the way with six.) The Dominican Astros had a total of 36 home runs in the last three seasons combined: 2010- 14 (69 games); 2009- 11 (64 games); 2008- 11 (71 games).
