Paul Clemens, 0.00 ERA to make Whataburger Debut Sunday

Most of the fans who go to Whataburger Field to watch the Hooks may not realize it, but Corpus Christi pitcher Paul Clemens has been anchoring the Hooks' staff since being acquired from Atlanta in the Michael Bourn trade at the end of July. Clemens pitched seven scoreless innings at Springfield Monday night in his third start in the Texas League.

In those three starts, he has allowed thirteen hits and just one unearned run in 19 2/3 innings. However, all Clemens' pitches as a Hook have been thrown in a road uniform. He should make his home debut on Sunday night, when he faces Springfield again, this time at Whataburger Field.

Ironically, if the Hooks' rotation holds through Labor Day Clemens will only have one more start at Whataburger Field after Sunday's outing, with two more starts to occur on the road.
