The Gold Medal Match of the Pan Am Games revolved around the Farmstros Village Tuesday night. Jimmy Van Ostrand's two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning off of Andy Van Hekken gave Baseball Canada a 2-1 victory and the gold medal in the tournament. It was the first ever Gold Medal in a major international baseball competition for Canada.
Van Hekken, who has been Team USA's top pitcher this month, allowed six hits and two runs in seven innings. He suffered his first loss in four games as part of Team USA. Van Ostrand finished the Pan Am Games 9 for 19 with two doubles and four RBI.
