The Astros have added another outfielder with a surplus of minor league experience to the mix for the 2012 season. Houston has signed Brad Snyder and invited him to Spring Training in 2012 as a non-roster player. Snyder, 29, has spent most of the last nine seasons in the minor leagues. He did play 20 big league games for the Cubs in 2010 and 2011.
Snyder, a left-handed thrower and batter, was drafted by Cleveland in the first round of the 2003 draft. He stayed with the Indians' organization through the 2008 season, topping out at AAA Buffalo. He moved to the Cubs' system prior to the 2009 campaign.
He is a career .280 hitter with 135 minor league home runs.
