Astros add a Little More American League Experience to the Organization
With an eye on their future in the American League(?), the Astros added a minor league free agent with a little experience in the Junior Circuit over the weekend. Houston signed infielder Joe Thurston, who played four games with Boston Red Sox in 2008. Thurston, 32, has played a total of 184 major leagues games in parts of seven seasons. He spent most of 2011 with Florida's AAA affiliate New Orleans where he batted .300 in 126 games. His signing with the Astros includes an invite to Spring Training as a non-roster player.
