It took awhile, but the Astros finally got another one of their 2002 draft picks to sign on the dotted line. Wednesday Ed Wade announced that the Astros had signed Nick Stavinoha as a minor league free agent. Stavinhoa had spent six plus years in the Cardinals' organization. He played 147 games in parts of three big league seasons with St. Louis.
Prior to joining the Cardinals, however, Stavinoha was drafted out of Jersey Village High School by the Astros in the 39th Round of the 2002 Draft. He didn't sign with Houston, opting to go to LSU. Stavinoha's signing with Houston includes an invite to big league camp in the spring.
