April 2012 Pitcher of the Month Candidates

Who is The Farmstros April Pitcher of the Month?

R.J. Alaniz, 20, RHP, Lancaster. Alaniz took his first month in the California League in stride.  He made five starts and posted a 2.90 ERA.  He allowed 27 hits and struck out 26 while walking seven in 31 IP.

Kevin Chapman, 23, LHP, Corpus Christi.  The player who WAS named in the Spring Training trade with Kansas City, Chapman posted a 1.38 ERA in nine relief appearances for the Hooks.  He had 19 strikeouts and allowed five walks in 13 IP.

Jason Chowning, 24, RHP, Lexington.  Chowning finished the first month of the season with an 0.00 ERA and three saves in nine relief appearances.  He allowed seven hits and eight walks while striking out 17 in 13 1/3 IP.

Paul Clemens, 23, RHP, Oklahoma City.  Clemens missed part of the month with a blister on his pitching hand. However, he still managed to post a 2.05 ERA in the four starts he did make.  He allowed 18 hits and six walks, striking out 16 over 22 IP.

Dayan Diaz, 23, RHP, Lexington. Diaz didn't allow a run until the last day of the month. He pitched 18 1/3 innings over nine relief appearances.  He had four wins and two saves, striking out 19, and allowing nine hits and seven walks.

Mike Foltynewicz, 20, RHP, Lexington. In five starts for the Legends, Foltynewicz had three wins and a 1.98 ERA.  He struck out 27 in 27 1/3 IP.

Dallas Keuchel, 23, LHP, Oklahoma City.  Keuchel made five starts for the RedHawks, posting a 1.62 ERA over 33 1/3 IP.  He had four wins and struck out 16 while allowing 26 hits and 7 walks for a WHIP of 0.99.
