April 2012 Player of the Month Candidates

Who is the Farmstros April Player of the Month?

Brandon Barnes, 25, OF, Corpus Christi. Barnes batted .353 for April(30 for 85). He had 14 doubles, four home runs, 21 RBI and a .659 slugging percentage.

Zach Johnson, 22, IF, Lexington. Johnson finished the month with an organization-high 30 RBI. In April, he was 25 for 91 with nine doubles and four home runs.

Fernando Martinez, 23, OF, Oklahoma City. Martinez was 28 for 89(.315) with six doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI.

Telvin Nash, 21, 1B, Lancaster. Nash led the organization with nine home runs in April. He finished with 15 RBI and a .247 average in 77 at bats.

Jonathan Singleton, 20, 1B, Corpus Christi. Singleton batted .350 for the month. He had seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 13 RBI in 80 at bats.

George Springer, 22, OF, Lancaster.  After opening the season with a grand slam, the Astros' first pick in the 2011 Draft ended the month with 18 RBI.  He batted .278 with five doubles, three triples and two home runs.

Austin Wates, 23, OF, Corpus Christi. Wates batted .340 in April.  He was 32 for 94 with six doubles, one triple, one home run, 15 RBI and five stolen bases.
