The home run Brandon Barnes hit in the Hooks' victory tonight over Springfield will be his last one in AA for awhile. Shortly after the game tonight, the Hooks announced via Twitter that Brandon Barnes,26, has been promoted to AAA Oklahoma City. A spot on the RedHawks' roster opened up when outfielder Justin Ruggiano was traded to Miami.
Barnes has a .317 average for Corpus Chrisit in 44 games, including tonight's contest. He has 20 doubles, seven home runs 31 RBI and seven stolen bases.
Barnes has spent time in AAA in each of the last two seasons. His batting average is barely above .200, but he does have nine home runs in 250 AAA at bats. While with Round Rock in the 2010 season, Barnes earned the distinction of being the last player ever to bat at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium.
