One month into his Atlantic League career, Van Ostrand is returning to affiliated baseball with the Washington Nationals' organization. Van Ostrand tweeted Saturday that he will be joining Washington's Pennsylvania-based AA affiliate the Harrisburg Senators. Harrisburg plays in the Eastern League.
In 27 games for the Sugar Land, Van Ostrand was batting .368 with 12 extra-base hits and 20 RBI. Van Ostrand joined the new independent league club after the Astros released him near the end of Spring Training two months ago. Van Ostrand had been with the Astros organization since being drafted in 2006. He spent three plus seasons with Corpus Christi(2008-2011). He recorded 30 home runs and 163 RBI in 331 games as a Hook.
