Jordan Lyles will be kicking off his summer as an Astro for the second straight season.
Lyles, who made his major league debut in 2011 the day after Memorial Day at Wrigley Field, has been promoted from Oklahoma City and will start the second game of today's Astros/Rockies holiday doubleheader. Lyles has bounced between Houston and Oklahoma City in 2012. Today will be his fourth major league start, while he has made seven starts at AAA.
Today, Lyles will be the 26th man on the team's roster thanks to a new exemption allowing teams to have an extra player available for doubleheaders. Assuming Lyles goes back to AAA after today's start, I am not sure if he has to wait 10 days before he can be called up again. This question will come in to play Sunday, June 3, the next date the Astros appear to need a fifth starter.
