The Farmstros Five #5:

Three groups are in the running for this weeks Farmstros Five #5, please vote for your choice.

Corpus Christi Bullpen. The Hooks won three extra-inning games in Week 11(11, 12, and 12 innings), and the bullpen played a big role in those victories.  Erick Abreu, Kevin Chapman, Arcenio Leon, Alex Sogar, Jason Stoffel, Henry Villar, and Josh Zeid chipped in throughout the week.  They combined to post a 1.21 ERA in 22 1/3 IP.  The bullpen allowed 20 hits and struck out 26.

GCL Astros Opening Day Pitchers.  A majority of the attention on Monday in Kissimmee was on the #1 draft pick playing shortstop.  However, Alan Abreu, Ambiorix DeLeon, Michael Feliz, Juan Mojica and Jose Montero stole the show.  The five pitchers allowed only six hits and struck out five over 13 innings.  The GCL Astros opened the season with a 1-0 victory over the GCL Cardinals.

The JetHawks. Lancaster ended the first half of their season by sweeping three games(Thursday-Saturday).  The wins put them into a tie for the first half championship in the California League South Division.  It was the first division title for an Astros' full season affiliate since 2006.

Numerous players contributed to the three victories.  David Martinez pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits.  George Springer was 8 for 13 with four extra-base hits and six RBI.  Chris Epps was 5 for 8 with two home runs and six RBI.  Domingo Santana was 5 for 12 with four RBI.

NOTE:  The Astros' High A affiliate Salem made the Carolina League play-offs in 2007.  However, the Avanlanche finished in second place in their division behind Kinston in both the first and second halves of the season.  They qualified for the post-season as a wild card.
