Lancaster knocked off Inland Empire 5-3 Saturday night to to complete a three-game sweep and finish the first half of the 2012 season in a three-way tie for first place in the California League's South Division. Lancaster, Rancho Cucamonga and High Desert all finished the first half with a 37-33 record. However, because of their better records in head to head to head games amongst the three teams , Rancho Cucamonga and High Desert will face off on the field to qualify for the 1st Half Division title. A designated regular season game between the two clubs will be the tiebreaker contest.
The winner of the 1st half earns a play-off berth and a first-round bye in the post-season. Lancaster will begin the second half of their season Thursday after the all-star break.
