With their victory Wednesday night, the Hooks have won seven in a row and pulled to within four games of Frisco in the South Division of the Texas League. Just six games remain in the first half of the season, so in all likelihood Corpus needs to sweep their four-game road series against the division-leading Roughriders that starts tomorrow to have a chance at the title.
Jarred Cosart is scheduled to start tomorrow's opener in Frisco. In fact, Cosart is in line to start two of Corpus' final six games of the half. The Hooks' chances of catching the Roughriders in the pennant race will get a boost if the top-ranked pitcher in the Astros' system can turn around his most recent performances. The Hooks ARE 2-1 in Cosart's three most recent starts, however Cosart has an ERA of 6.16 over 19 innings in those starts.
