One of the more interesting numbers I came across while deciding on the candidates for June Player of the Month were the struggles of Corpus Christi first baseman Jon Singleton. Singleton, who is slated to participate in the MLB Futures' Game next Sunday, had a June to forget for the Hooks.
The Astros' first baseman of the future according to most prognosticators, Singleton was 12 for 81 in June. He struck out 28 times and had only one home run and six RBI. He walked 20 times and scored 14 runs to go with a .235 slugging percentage for the month.
