Player Development Agreement Update- Low A

The Astros' Player Development Agreement with Low A Lexington expires at the end of the 2012 season. Here is a look at all the Low A affiliates who at this time are scheduled to become available this off-season.

Who's Up for renewal?  Midwest League

The Astros' most recent Midwest League affiliate was the Michigan Battle Cats(1999-2002).

Beloit Snappers- affiliated with Minnesota since 2005.  Operated by Beloit Professional Baseball Association Inc.

Burlington Bees- affiliated with Oakland since 2011.  Operated by Burlington Baseball Association, Inc.

Cedar Rapids Kernels- affiliated with Los Angeles Angels since 1993.  Operated by Cedar Rapids Ball Club Inc.


Fort Wayne TinCaps- affiliated with San Diego since 1999.  Operated by Hardball Capital.

Kane County Cougars- affiliated with Kansas City since 2011.  Operated by Cougars Baseball Partnership.

Peoria Chiefs- affiliated with Chicago Cubs since 2005.  Operated by Peoria Chiefs Community Baseball Club LLC.

Quad Cities River Bandits- affiliated with St. Louis since 2005.  Operated by Main Street Iowa LLC, David Heller, Bob Herrfeldt


South Atlantic League

The Astros have had Lexington, of the SALLY League, as an affiliate since 2001.

Hagerstown Suns- affiliated with Washington since 2007.  Operated by Hagerstown Baseball, LLC.

Lexington Legends- affiliated with Houston since 2001.  Operated by Ivy Walls Management Co.

What's your gut say on this? Do you think we resign with Lexington? Which is the more competitive league, Midwest or Sally? Thanks Mike, I love reading your stuff.

My gut says they stay in Lexington. It seems there is a good relationship betweeen Houston and Lexington. Neither league is close to Houston. Thanks for the comment.

Lancaster PDA is also up at the end of this season. Do you have a 'possibilities update' for that in the works as well? (I'm too lazy to do it myself, and you've done such a fine job with this one and all... Just sayin'...)

There's a link to the High A Update and the AAA update within this post. I'm planning one on NYPL/Northwest League too in the next few days.

Biggio HOF, The SAL and MWL are supposed to be at the same level. I've never heard about one being more competitive than the other.
