Lancaster held off a late charge by Rancho Cucamonga Monday night to win the first game of a four game series, 14-11. With the win, the JetHawks expanded their lead over the Quakes in the battle for a California League play-off spot to two games. If the season ended today, Lancaster would qualify for the post-season as the South Division's second wild card.
During Monday night's game, Lancaster second baseman Delino DeShields stole two bases to break the Astros' minor league single season steals record with 89. The previous record holder was OF/IF Lou Frazier who stole 87 bases for Osceola in 1988. Frazier's career topped out in AAA. In 13 seasons, he had 465 stolen bases.
